Why Would You Want to Be Someone's Hero?

Why Would You Want to Be Someone's Hero?

Here it is.

The mission of this geek store, summed up in a smaller, easier to digest form.

Thank you all for joining us on our OneGeek mission. It has been incredible that, together with you, we could impact the lives of thousands of students.

From the 3rd grade and up until the end of highschool.

Seeing how much the children progressed after they received all the great class materials, experiences, and robot building kits, has been a new experience that changed me.

I mean, part of the reason I wanted to get your help.. to enlist you on this Hero League was so that I can finally pay things forward.

I am grateful for all the wonderful things I managed to accomplish before being 30 years old. All of that happened thanks to people like you, who took a chance.

Who gave something of your own: your time (to read about this), your reputation (telling other people about how THEY can help children in need of better education) and your money (to buy the items).

Some of the best moments that changed my life came from other people (not parents, because they didn't have the money; not the schools, because they were all poorly funded) who invested in my education and the education of some of my colleagues.

Sometimes helping others with donations seems useless, trivial and sometimes even meaningless.

Well, it's really not the case. The people who decided to do this for me, gave me resources that I would not have had access to. It was not the money that changed things for me, because I did not receive money. But my teachers used that money (in a transparent way; me and my parents saw the bills and everything) to help me participate at an International Science Fair where my team won some of the highest prizes.

Winning there showed me I could do a lot more than what all other kids in my (financial) situation were capable of achieving. It showed me that I could do a lot more.

This is what I want to give other children:

- amazing learning experiences that will change their lives for the better.

- help them dream up AND build brighter futures for themselves.

- knowing about the kindness of others.

And I want you to join me on this quest.

To show that you care.

To make a huge impact of your own in the life of someone else.

It's not just about getting the best action figure or the best OverWatch Wallet; it's about giving people resources that they couldn't have access to if it were not for you.

Resources that build brighter futures.

Education is one of the best gifts you can give.

More about the donations here, if you wish to read further.
