We spend so much money getting other people to do things for us that we could do ourselves. We spend money on cutting our hair, fixing our cars or computers, buying cakes, painting the house, mowing the lawn and so on. Of course, we can't do everything ourselves, but we could bake a birthday cake, or cut our hair, or paint the house or even make a gift.

The History of DIY Day
In 2016, the Craft Box Girls team created the DIY Day. Their mission is both to celebrate and to inspire people to create things on their own. Check out their video below:
As for the history of DIY itself, we can't say when the term was first used, probably a long long time ago. However, recently, Italian archeologists discovered in southern Italy, the ruins of a 6th-century BC Greek temple-like structure. This structure came with detailed assembly instructions, some section even being coded with symbols showing how the pieces slotted together. Because of the world-famous IKEA instructions booklets, this temple-like structure is now called an "ancient IKEA building."
How to Celebrate DIY Day
Going from the saying: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” let's take advantage of this day to learn to do something new ourselves. Maybe it will be something as simple as cooking a new recipe, or maybe you will start learning a new hobby like crochet or knit.
